Prenatal Care

Prenatal care is an important part of any birth. The first visit includes a complete physical assessment, medical history, and blood work. Subsequent visits occur at monthly intervals until the seventh month, increasing to bi-monthly until the ninth month. Finally, weekly prenatal visits in the last month provide close contact leading up to the delivery. The following indicators are carefully monitored at each visit:

WeightUrinalysisBlood pressurePosition of infantPulse
NutritionEmotional statusFetal heart tonesExercise
Fundal height (size of uterus)

Ultrasounds are available.

Background reading materials are also provided on a range of important pregnancy issues.

First-time mothers are required to attend classes in the Bradley Method of natural childbirth to prepare for their birth at the center. We provide a free refresher class for moms who have already birthed naturally.
