Jean
"Pregnancy and birth are the highlights of a woman's lifetime. Women approach me who gave birth decade's ago and are able to recount every detail of their experience. This is because birthing a baby is such a crucial and monumental achievement. IT is critically important that places such as AABC exist where our midwives and their support team understand we are dealing with a sacred , precious experience. (Not simply a medical procedure) Birthing women are ...."

Roswitha Elisabeth Dowell, CPM

Roswitha
"As a child growing up in Germany, I noticed that women helping women during childbirth was the norm. I always wanted to be one of those "helpers". When expecting my own three children, I used the services of my midwife colleagues so I fully understand the parents' need to feel empowered and make their own decisions. Childbirth is one of the most important and joyful events in a woman's life and I enjoy doing my part."

Victoria Meinhardt, CPM, Licensed Midwife
Victoria
"I truly believe most women have the ability to give birth under their own power out of the hospital. I consider myself a non-interventive midwife: however, I do have the ability to sense when to become more 'hands on' for the births that need it. I believe our first priority is safety for mother and baby so I am willing to do what it takes to reach that goal. Midwifery is my craft and my passion and I love serving women during this unique time in their lives."

Michelle Reynolds, RN, CNM, MSN
Victoria
"I want to work in a birth center as a midwife to offer women a healthy and safe alternative for birth outside of the hospital. My number one goal for each birth is to have a safe mother and a safe baby. I believe in creating a calm and relaxed environment and looking at birth as a natural process. When unexpected difficulties arise my hope is to guide women through those situations as smoothly as possible, allowing each woman to look back on her birth experience positively. I want women to feel supported, educated, and empowered to make choices for themselves with the guidance of the midwives. I think being a midwife allows the one on one time with women necessary to make that happen. I feel privileged to work with women and their families, to be involved in such intimate and life changing experiences. I cannot think of a more rewarding profession. I love getting to see women through the whole process of pregnancy, birth, and becoming new mothers. Each woman, her family, and their experience are so unique. To me, that is what makes this work magical and makes me want to dedicate my life to midwifery."
